Everything you might want to know before reaching out. If something isn't answered here, Ananya is always happy to hear from you directly.
You don't need to be in crisis to begin therapy. Many people come simply because something feels heavy, stuck, or unclear — and they want to understand it better. If you're curious about your own patterns, relationships, or inner life, therapy can be a meaningful space for that exploration.
A good way to think about it: if you've been carrying something that feels too large to carry alone, or too complex to untangle by yourself, that's a reason to reach out.
The first session is a space for Ananya to understand what brings you, and for you to get a feel for the space and how she works. There's no pressure to share everything at once — it unfolds at your pace.
Ananya will ask some gentle questions, and there will be room for you to ask yours too. The first session is as much about you deciding if this feels right as it is about anything else.
There's no fixed timeline — it depends on what you're bringing, what you're hoping for, and how the work unfolds. Some people find clarity in a few months; others choose to continue for longer because the process continues to be meaningful.
Ananya doesn't push people to stay longer than they need to, nor does she rush people through. The pace is always led by you.
Weekly sessions are generally recommended, especially in the beginning. Consistency allows the work to build and deepen over time. The frequency can be adjusted based on your needs, availability, and where you are in the process.
Yes. Confidentiality is foundational to the work. Ananya follows professional ethical guidelines around the very limited circumstances where this may need to be revisited — such as where there is serious risk to life. These are discussed clearly at the outset so you always know where you stand.
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. This is a standard therapy hour — it allows enough time for meaningful work while leaving space for you to transition back into your day.
All sessions are held online via video call. This makes it possible for Ananya to work with clients across India and internationally, and removes the need to commute to and from appointments.
You'll need a private, reasonably quiet space and a stable internet connection. Many clients find they actually prefer the accessibility of online therapy.
Ananya works with a sliding fee structure to make therapy as accessible as possible. Fees are discussed during the enquiry process based on your context and location — whether you're based in India or internationally.
If you have questions about fees before reaching out, you're welcome to ask directly via WhatsApp or email.
Yes — Ananya works with clients across time zones. Sessions are held online, making it accessible wherever you are in the world. Time slots and fees for international clients are discussed during the enquiry.
Ananya offers sessions in English, Hindi, and Assamese. If you'd prefer to work in a particular language, please mention this when you enquire.
Transactional Analysis (TA) is a relational and humanistic approach to psychotherapy. It explores the patterns we develop in response to early experiences — how we relate to ourselves and others, and the unconscious "scripts" that shape our lives.
In practice, TA is accessible and insight-oriented. It gives you language and frameworks to understand yourself, while the relational work with Ananya creates space for real change.
Trauma-informed practice means that Ananya approaches every session with an understanding of how trauma — including complex, relational, or developmental trauma — affects the nervous system, body, relationships, and sense of self.
It doesn't mean every session is about trauma. It means the work is paced with care, never pushed faster than you're ready for, and attentive to signs of overwhelm or dysregulation.
It means the therapeutic space is genuinely affirming of LGBTQIA+ identities — not just neutral or accepting, but actively informed by an understanding of queer experiences, including minority stress, identity, family dynamics, and community.
You won't need to explain or justify your identity. Ananya holds a space where all of who you are is welcome.
No. A diagnosis is not required, and Ananya does not diagnose. You can come to therapy simply because something feels off, or because you want to understand yourself better — that's more than enough.
Not at all. The group is open to complete beginners and those with an existing practice. Ananya guides each session in a way that meets you where you are.
No — group therapy is a different kind of work. The presence of other members is central to what makes it powerful. Patterns in your relationships with others show up in the room in real time, which creates unique opportunities for insight and change that individual therapy doesn't offer.
Some people do both simultaneously. Others choose one or the other. If you're unsure which is right for you, reach out and Ananya can help you decide.
Yes. Confidentiality is a foundational agreement for all group members — what is shared in the group stays within it. This is established clearly with everyone at the outset and is a non-negotiable part of participating.
Ananya is happy to answer anything before you decide to reach out formally.
